Old Marking Rubric

Here are the rubrics used last year to mark your projects.  In 2012 there will be some changes.  These rubrics are a good start for you when doing your first draft.  The new rubrics will be done by Monday April 9th.

There are 2 categories that you will be marked in for your Movie Project.  One is Production and Direction (The artistry of your movie) and Content.  Here are the two rubrics that will be used.  Feel free to print them off and ask questions.  If you have completed a movie and want to make it better please use the rubrics to achieve a better mark.

Finding Images on Flickr

It is important for us to use material in our presentations and movies that we have permission to use. Today's lesson is about using creative commons images.  You are going to learn how to search for images that you can use in your 2 Minutes to Make a Difference, your blog posts and your e-portfolios.

Let's start with flickr.  This is a site where you can find many images.  Most of the images are not usable because they do not have a cc license.  There are many pictures that you can use and let's figure out how to do this.

Using Advanced Search at Flickr.
  1. Go to flickr.com
  2. Search for a keyword or topic
  3. Once you have searched and received a result click advanced search
  4. Scroll down till you see USE CC
  5. Now when you return to your image search you are searching images that you are allowed to use.

 Saving the image
To save an image it is important to do a few things.
  • Save the image to your desktop
  • You now need an attribution.  This is a way of giving the photographer credit.
  • cc licensed flickr photo by nyominx: http://flickr.com/photos/nyominx/156249167/ is how you create an attribution. It has three parts
  1. cc licensed flickr photo by nyominx: http://flickr.com/photos/nyominx/156249167/ This is the name of the person who took the photo.
  2. cc licensed flickr photo by nyominx: http://flickr.com/photos/nyominx/156249167/  Is the link to the photograph on flickr.
  3. Every photo you use needs to have this attribution.

This is an excellent site
When you are searching at the Creative Commons Website you can find all sorts of media.  You can find images, music, video and so much more.  It is important to cite all of your sources.  Always paste the link into your Google Presentation and keep yourselves organized.

Practice searching for images using this site.  You should also search for music for your video too.  The best music for these videos will not have words.  Enjoy searching

Movie Storyboard

On Monday your storyboard for your movie is due.  The Storyboard is a way for you to organize your thoughts and to plot out how you are going to present your topic to the public. Here is the diagram I used in class.
Starting next week we will be gathering media to add to your movie.  Keep on working hard.

Movie Project Feb 27 to March 5

Today you corrected and assessed your work up to date.  Now it is time to move forward.  Three slides need to be added under the heading of Action Planning:
  • Slide 1 How can We make a difference?  On this slide you need to put links, places in Canada and Winnipeg where we can go to make a difference.  You need to also find people who are working to make a difference and find links to them.
  • Slide 2 How will we make a difference? What actions did you take to make a difference for your cause.  You need to brainstorm different possibilities for what you will do.  You do not need to do your action this week but will need to do something before the movie is done and capture it on a digital camera or movie.
  • Slide 3 Find an expert. Many websites have author links and an About us section.  Find some people who are experts in your cause and send them interview questions.  Keep a copy of the email correspondence.  You might even call them on the phone.
